Join us Saturday Sept 8, 2018 for the 31st annual Western North Carolina Big Sweep River Cleanup! Volunteer for the region's largest river, stream and roadside cleanup followed by an after party at Sierra Nevada Brewery.
Where to Meet:
Westfeldt River Park: the park is in Fletcher, very close to Mills River area, behind the Asheville Airport on the same road as the Sierra Nevada Brewery.
Schedule:
11:30pm: Meet up at Westfeldt River Park, Mills River NC (behind the Asheville Airport) for check-in and to meet other volunteers. Bring a bagged lunch!
1:30pm: Ride a shuttle to your cleanup location
4:30pm: Get out of the water, shuttled back to Westfeldt River Park
5pm- 7pm: after party at Sierra Nevada (and opportunity to network/mingle with corps members and service year alums)
What to wear:
Dress for going swimming as we will be in the river. Swimsuits with shorts over seem to work the best. GreenWorks will provide PFDs for everyone. Please bring along a change of clothes so you’re dry and ready for the after party.
Footwear:
No: flip flops, slides or boots.
Yes: river shoes, water shoes, river sandals or any old pair of tennis shoes that you can get wet.
