The Western New York Impact Community (WNYIC) is led by The Service Collaborative of Western New York. The WNYIC will coordinate efforts to build pathways for long-term success for individuals and to fuel civic renewal within the region of Western New York (including City of Buffalo). A coalition of community members (National Service grantee organizations, National Service alumni, government, non-profit, higher education, to name a few) will make up the governing body of the WNYIC and influence positive change across our communities. WNYIC will build hope in our communities to grow a better future for all. Through making connections at the local level, we will build a community that influences the Universal National Service principles everywhere.
In the first two years of being an Impact Community, WNYIC will engage in dialogue with individuals, employers and stakeholders to determine how National Service can change the landscape of employment opportunities and civic renewal across Western New York. WNYIC will hire a full-time staff person, create a strategic plan, host community forums and conduct outreach to local high schools and higher education institutions during its first two years.
“With The Service Collaborative’s deep history in service and the Western New York community, we are excited to bring together stakeholders to embrace and advance service. We will strive to build capacity and create leaders across our communities.”
-Kate Sarata, Executive Director, The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc.
