Xavier had faced an uncertain future, going to six different high schools before he dropped out. Fortunately, he was introduced to a service year at Mile High Youth Corps’ YouthBuild, an experience that shaped his future. His service year allowed him to help others and make an impact in his community — all while paving a pathway to higher education.
Xavier shines a light on what is possible when every young person in America — no matter their background — is empowered with the opportunity to engage in service.
Service Year Alliance is honored to partner with the Schultz Family Foundation to highlight these young men and share their stories to inspire young people, communities, and public and private sector leaders across the country. Everyone has a role to play in expanding service opportunities for all young Americans.
