About

Service Year Alliance is a nonprofit dedicated to making a year of paid, full-time service — service year — a common expectation and opportunity for all young Americans.

Service Year Alliance was created in 2016 as the result of a merger of ServiceNation, the Franklin Project at The Aspen Institute, and the Service Year Exchange project of the National Conference on Citizenship. Service Year Alliance is working to accomplish our mission by supporting the national service field to grow the number of service year positions available to young people, improving and enhancing the service year experience for currently serving corps members, and ensuring that all young people, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to serve.

We partner with organizations both inside and outside the service year field. Specifically, we support programs and state service commissions in developing and implementing best practices to: improve corps members recruitment and retention, increase collaboration across programs, create communities of practice, and strengthen the connections between service year programs and their community.
