Alums Amplified

Alums Amplified is a national opportunity for standout service year alums to elevate their voices and champion the future of service years. This select group of alums helps strengthen public understanding of service years by speaking with influence - from meetings with Members of Congress to sector-specific events, media platforms, and community conversations.

Alums Amplified members are storytellers, advocates, and trusted messengers who demonstrate the impact of service years on individuals, careers, communities, and our nation.

“Service doesn’t just change individuals—it builds unity and even strengthens our nation’s resilience and security. In a time when division is often the loudest voice, service is a quiet but powerful way to bring people together. When alumni share what service has meant in their lives, it strengthens the case for why national service is worth investing in—for youth today and for the generations to come.”

- Laura Swier Kotelman

Alums Amplified in the News

Alums Amplified member Drew Mitrisin reflects on his service with City Year Washington DC as the launching point toward his career in public policy, and connects us to the bipartisan support for AmeriCorps and “what we can build together.”

"We often talk about “boots on the ground” as a measure of force or enforcement, but AmeriCorps represents a different kind of footprint. It represents a government that shows up to tutor a struggling reader, help an older adult navigate a health crisis or rebuild a town after a tornado."
