Austin served with AmeriCorps VISTA in the Upstate of South Carolina, where he engaged in work focused on mental health awareness, community development, and poverty alleviation.

He currently works as a Community Outreach Manager for Welcome.US, working to empower American Welcomers to creating communities of welcome for immigrant newcomers. He is also pursuing an MDIV from Duke Divinity School. His work with AmeriCorps VISTA fueled passion for the work of bridge-building and partnership development in community transformation. Outside of work, Austin finds joy in cheering for Duke and a good cup of specialty coffee.
