Latojia Dawkins began her service work with AmeriCorps NCCC in 2007, completing two terms in Denver, CO, where she supported students at a local middle school, served over the Summer of Service Program, rebuilt homes with Habitat for Humanity, responded to disaster relief efforts, and completed conservation projects across multiple states.
Those two terms set the course for a career rooted in service . She went on to serve in various leadership capacities across Points of Light, Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa, and Citizen Schools, contributing as a team leader, program director, and recruiter within the national service movement.
A Johnson & Wales University alum, she likes to say her journey has gone "from Corps to Corps" — a life of service woven through youth development, education, recruitment, and now storytelling. Latojia currently serves as Director of Interview Collection at StoryCorps, the national nonprofit dedicated to preserving the stories of everyday Americans.
At the heart of her work is a simple belief: everyone has a story and deserves to be heard, and service is one of the most powerful ways to show that. Outside of work, Latojia is a poet, a self-proclaimed foodie, a water sports enthusiast, and a devoted movie lover — always chasing good stories, on and off the screen.
