Tawnya served as an  AmeriCorps Promise Fellow in Colorado, where she worked at an affordable housing community to design and implement wraparound services for residents. Her work included leading summer and afterschool programming for youth and facilitating enrichment opportunities for adults. 

Today, Tawnya serves in local government with the City of Brighton, where she leads youth engagement and leadership initiatives, including programs that elevate youth voice and create pathways for young people to shape their community. 

Her service year launched a lifelong commitment to community impact and developing emerging leaders. 

Outside of work, Tawnya enjoys spending time with loved ones, attending live music, and beekeeping.
