Austin did a service year with Teach for America after college. He was a business student at the University of Texas and education was never remotely on his radar until he had a conversation with a recruiter from Teach for America. His plan was to do a service year then go to law, but after two years in the classroom, those plans changed. Not only did he find his passion in education, but he also had the opportunity to get outside his comfort zone and learn about people and communities that he previously knew nothing about.
