Fueled by the passion, energy, and creativity of young people, Service Year Campus is building a national movement, revolutionizing the idea of a service year, and inspiring a new generation to serve.

Consider how powerful it is to have young people from Birmingham serving alongside young people from Brooklyn; Democrats serving with Republicans; Christians serving alongside Muslims and Jews; working together to drive change in our communities. Now imagine the game-changing impact it would have if it was not thousands of people serving per year, but millions. Imagine if a service year became part of growing up in America.

What is Service Year Campus?

Combining the urgency of advocacy campaigns with the fun of creative marketing, Service Year Campus empowers student leaders to raise awareness of service year opportunities, connect more young people to a service year, and gives them a platform to use their voice. Students can join (or start!) a chapter and participate in a series of actions throughout each semester to build the movement for service on their campus. Through their chapter, students mobilize their campus into action and report all their activities.

What is a service year?

A service year is a paid opportunity to develop real-world skills through hands-on service. Essentially, it’s a gap year with a purpose and a paycheck. Whether you serve before, during, or after college — or as a way to find your path — a service year gives young people a chance to transform their lives, make an impact in their community, and become the active citizens and leaders our nation needs. Expanding service has the power to revitalize cities, uplift and educate children at risk, and empower communities struggling with poverty. A Better You. A Greater Us.
