President Trump’s 2018 budget cuts critical funding for the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps programs like Teach For America and City Year. This means the tens of thousands of young people who serve every year won’t be teaching in our underperforming schools, supporting our veterans, responding to natural disasters, maintaining our national parks, or tackling issues like the opioid epidemic and unemployment.
If President Trump’s budget becomes reality, national service will end up like the dinosaurs. We’re here to tell Congress: Stop National Service Extinction. Let’s expand national service instead.
Join dozens of service year supporters on the morning of Wednesday, August 30th from 7:30AM-10:30AM to Stop National Service Extinction. We’ll break up into dino teams at locations across Washington, DC to spread the word about national service. At each location, volunteers will be wearing a mix of inflatable dinosaur costumes and Service Year t-shirts.
Interested in joining the dinos on the streets of DC on August 30th? Sign up and we’ll send over all the info you’ll need, including talking points and the opportunity to attend an in person training on Tuesday, August 29th.
